About Online Keyboard Tester

A free, browser-based keyboard diagnostic tool built for everyone — from everyday users to competitive gamers and developers.

Our Mission

Online Keyboard Tester was built with a single purpose: give anyone the ability to test every key on their keyboard instantly, without downloading software, creating an account, or paying a penny. Whether you've just bought a new mechanical keyboard, suspect a faulty key, or want to verify your gaming keyboard's N-key rollover before a tournament — this tool does it all in seconds, right in your browser.

We believe keyboard diagnostics should be fast, private, and universally accessible. That's why our keyboard tester runs entirely using native browser APIs — no keystrokes are ever sent to a server, and no personal data is collected.

What Our Keyboard Tester Does

⌨️

Real-Time Key Detection

Every key press is captured instantly using the browser's KeyboardEvent API and highlighted on the visual keyboard layout.

🔍

Hardware Issue Detection

Detects stuck keys, chattering keys, and ghosting automatically — flagging problem keys in amber so you know exactly what needs attention.

🖥️

7 Keyboard Layouts

Supports Full Size (104-key), TKL, 75%, 65%, 60%, Laptop, and Mac layouts — including accurate Apple keyboard labels for Mac users.

🔐

100% Private

Zero server communication. Everything happens locally in your browser. Your keystrokes are never logged, stored, or transmitted.

📊

Key Press History & Export

A timestamped session log of every key event. Export as CSV or TXT for detailed analysis, or copy directly to clipboard.

🛠️

Developer Key Inspector

Inspect raw event.key, event.code, location, repeat, and all modifier states — ideal for developers and power users.

Who We Built This For

Our free keyboard tester was designed to serve a wide range of users:

  • Gamers — verify N-key rollover, anti-ghosting, and simultaneous key press support on mechanical and gaming keyboards.
  • Typists & writers — quickly diagnose chattering or stuck keys that cause double-typing or missed characters.
  • Developers — inspect raw keyboard events, key codes, and modifier states for keyboard-driven applications.
  • Mac users — test any Apple keyboard including MacBook built-in keyboards, Magic Keyboards, and third-party Mac peripherals.
  • Laptop users — diagnose built-in laptop keyboard issues without needing external tools or software.
  • IT professionals — quickly assess keyboard hardware during device setup, repair, or pre-sale inspection.

Coming Soon — More Keyboard Testing Tools

Our Commitment to Privacy

Privacy is not a feature — it's the foundation of how this tool works. The keyboard tester uses only browser-native KeyboardEvent listeners that run entirely on your device. There is no backend, no database, no analytics pipeline capturing your keystrokes. You can open your browser's DevTools Network tab while using the tool and verify for yourself: zero keystroke-related network requests are ever made.

Read our full Privacy Policy for complete details on how we handle data.
